United States Holocaust Memorial Museum

The soul of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is the Permanent Exhibition which covers 40,000 square feet on three floors.

The challenge is to tell the entire story of the Holocaust inside this building. To transport visitors 50 years back in time, a continent; away, and introduce them to a world where ordinary lives are shattered by unspeakable evil.

When the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum opened its doors in 1993, this extraordinary Living Memorial ensured that Americans in every generation to come would remember the Holocaust as a catastrophic failure of humanity and a dire warning about the fragility of freedom

A member of the Museum Planning Committee tells Videofact about challenges and successes of their project
